{"id":16423,"date":"2019-01-01T07:52:15","date_gmt":"2019-01-01T13:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/svra.com\/?p=16423"},"modified":"2019-01-01T07:52:15","modified_gmt":"2019-01-01T13:52:15","slug":"2018-john-cloud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/events.racingamerica.com\/svra\/2019\/01\/01\/2018-john-cloud\/","title":{"rendered":"2018 SVRA Driver of the Year: John Cloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16426 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/events.racingamerica.com\/svra\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/john-cloud.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16427 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/events.racingamerica.com\/svra\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/john-cloud-car.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">John Cloud<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>-1993\nAttended Bobby Rahal Fantasy Camp at the Mid Ohio School for an introduction to\nroad racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Fall\nof 1994 attended the Bob Bondurant racing school in Arizona for the first time,\nvisited 65 times in the next ten years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-1995-1996\nparticipated in SCCA Solo 2 for two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-October\n1996 participated in VSCDA Children\u2019s Museum Vintage Grand Prix at IRP in a\nGene Felton prepared 1990 Pennzoil Pontiac Grand Prix, first vintage race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-1996\nJoined HSCRG, Historic Stock Car Racing Group for participation in HSR Group 8\nracing a #2 MGD livery 1994 Rusty Wallace\/Penske Ford Thunderbird stock car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-1998\nAcquired a vintage race prepared first generation Camaro for participation in\nHSR Group 5 and SVRA Group 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-1998\nBuilt 14,000 ft2 Team MGD racing shop in Wellington Ohio to support three Team\nMGD Historic stock cars and three first generation vintage Camaros for Team MGD\nracers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-1999\nWon HSCRG\/HSR Group 8 stock car points championship after a year of no DNFs and\nmany lucky breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-2005\nAwarded the coveted HSR John Benett plaque at the season ending banquet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-2006\nVIR heavy single car crash at the end of the back straight in 1967 Camaro\ndemolishing the car.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mild concussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-2007\nAwarded the first ever Charlie Earwood \u201cFlame of Excellence\u201d award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-2008\nParticipated in the Rolex 24 Hour Race at Daytona in a GT a Mustang owned by\nJohn Farano, co driven by John, Carl Jensen, Jim Bradley, and Boris Said. DNF\nwith Transmission issues but an amazing bucket list experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-2009\nSat out racing for the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-2010\nAcquired the 2000&nbsp; Cobra Mustang\n\u201cEntrepreneur\u201d Gt1\/Trans Am car for SVRA Group 10 racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-2011\nwife Debbie began her racing career along side me.
