Lodging on and around Amelia Island<\/h3>\n

Lodging on and around Amelia Island for the Amelia Island Vintage Gran Prix event March 17-20, 2016. The two spectator days of the event are March 19 and March 20. Unfortunately, there is a City Ordinance preventing over night lodging of any kind on any City property, including the grounds of the Amelia Island Vintage Gran Prix event, as the event is located on the City Airport. There are many lodging and campground facilities on or around Amelia Island. You may view the list of local lodging facilities below. Jacksonville, Florida is only about 40-45 minutes away, where there are an abundance of lodging facilities and if you come up the coast from Jax. to Amelia Island you will be glad you did. For that drive is one of the most spectacular in Florida, any time of day.<\/p>\n

Traffic patterns for Amelia Island Vintage Gran Prix event<\/h3>\n

From I-95 S<\/strong><\/p>\n

Transporters:
\nGo east on Florida State Road 200 (second exit in Florida), cross big bridge onto Amelia Island. Go right at first traffic light onto Amelia Island Parkway. Continue to first traffic circle, turn right onto Bailey Rd. Follow Bailey Rd around to transporter staging area, on the left.<\/p>\n

Personal vehicles to the track:
\nGo east on Florida State Road 200 (second exit in Florida), cross big bridge onto Amelia Island. Go right at the first traffic light onto Amelia Island Parkway. Continue straight around the two traffic circles. Continue on Amelia Island Parkway, then merge right onto Buccaneer Trail. Take first right into Amelia River Golf Club. Continue straight past the club house (on right) and veer to right, past the maintenance building and continue through the gate to the race track area (airport).<\/p>\n

From I-295 N<\/strong><\/p>\n

Transporters:
\nCross the St. Johns River on I-295 N and go east on Heckscher Drive. Continue east and then north on Heckscher Drive (1st. Coast Highway). Cross bridge onto Amelia Island. Go around three traffic circles. At the forth traffic circle go right onto Fletcher Ave. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Amelia Island Parkway. Follow Amelia Island Parkway until the second traffic circle. At that traffic circle go left onto Bailey Road. Follow Bailey Road around to transporter staging area, on the left.<\/p>\n

Advanced Purchase Credentialed Parking<\/h3>\n

Those spectators that have purchased event tickets and their vehicle pass in advance of the Amelia Island Vintage Gran Prix will have Premium Parking spots. Their parking site will be in the Premium Parking location, directly behind the Amelia River Golf Club, Club House.<\/p>\n

\nPortable Restrooms will be placed at each parking facility utilized.
\nOverhead lighting will be placed at the golf club fairways utilizes for parking.
\nSpectators can bring lawn chairs, umbrellas, etc., but personal coolers are prohibited<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Event Paddock Tours<\/h3>\n

Paddock Tours will be performed both on Saturday March 19 and Sunday, March 20, 2016. The tours will start at 10:00am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and at 3:30 pm, near the events vendor area, in the paddock.<\/p>\n

Requirements of the Event<\/h3>\n

On the grounds of the airport:
\nNo unauthorized personnel beyond the bounds of the fenced in areas.
\nNo over night lodging on the airport grounds.
\nNo alcoholic beverages consumed on the airport grounds during the racing activity hours of 8:00 AM-6:00 PM all four days of the event.
\nPlease respect the airport grounds and place all trash into the nearest trash boxes to you.
\nPlease place all hazardous materials in the hazardous materials containers, located near the false grid location.<\/p>\n

Upon exiting the track area with your race transporter during or after the racing event with you will be crossing an active runway on the airfield. You must contact a race official and then wait for an escort to cross that active runway from the north end of the main paddock area.<\/p>\n

Upon exiting the track area by personnel vehicles, or by foot, during the event, you will exit the track area through the Amelia River Golf Club main thoroughfare.<\/p>\n

With the proper event credentials, event participants will be able to access the paddock areas 24 hours a day, during the event through the main thoroughfare of the Amelia River Golf Club. Show your event credentials at the entrance of the golf club to do so.<\/p>\n

On the Grounds of the Amelia River Golf Club:
\nPlease respect the grounds of the golf course.
\nKeep your area clean and dispose of trash in the supplied trash boxes.
\nAlcoholic beverages may be purchased and consumed inside the grounds of the Amelia River Golf Club during the event. However, the alcoholic beverages may not be brought into the grounds of the airport property.
\nEvent viewing may take place from fairways one and five of the golf course only.<\/p>\n

Golf Cart Rentals<\/h3>\n

Golf carts will be available for rental from the Club House at the Amelia River Golf Club. The Golf Club is adjacent to the race track and you will be going past the Club House each day on your way to the track. The rental fee is $50.00 per day. You may reserve a golf cart by contacting:

These golf cart are electric. You will need to return the golf carts each day by 6:00 pm to the cart barn (located on your way out of the Golf Club) so the cart may be recharged.<\/p>\n

Historic Downtown Race Car Tour<\/h3>\n

On Thursday, March 17th, during the Amelia Island Vintage Gran Prix festivities, SVRA has arranged for a Race Car Tour to historic downtown Fernandina Beach. The Tour is open to all race cars and will start at 11:15 am. Race cars will stage near the tech area, and with a Police escort, drive about five miles along the ocean, past the Fort Clinch to historic downtown Fernandina Beach. Reserve parking has been arranged. At 1:30 pm, after lunch at one of the many fabulous restaurants, the tour will return to the race track.<\/p>\n
