SVRA returns to Sonoma for the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival, a Gold Medallion event. Racers and fans will enjoy this invitational event, which salutes race cars prepared to the rules of the era in which they were originally raced.
\nA celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Can-Am, and the of the Trans-Am Series, will offer a trip down memory lane through one of the most exciting eras in America\u2019s racing heritage.<\/p>\n
The challenging Sonoma Raceway facility is located in Sonoma, California. The 12-turn course opened in 1968 and features elevation changes, fast sweeping turns, and the challenging carousel. This event offers a wide variety of pre and post-race activities. The track\u2019s proximity to Sonoma and Napa wine regions makes it a popular destination for competitors and race fans alike.<\/p>\n
Over 375 of the world\u2019s finest racing machines will take to the track, some of which date as far back as Pre-WWI. It\u2019s sure to be an incredible collection of race cars, including Bugatti, Lotus, Corvette, Ferrari, Jaguar, and Alfa Romeo, some of which have never tested the twists and turns of this world-class road course.<\/p>\n
On Saturday night, a select group of historic race cars depart the raceway under a full CHP escort and head to the beautiful town of Sonoma. The cars take a ceremonial lap around the Town Square before settling into the Plaza for public viewing. Saturday\u2019s car show will be another great chance for fans to enjoy the street and performance cars from local car clubs, as well as show off their rides. These activities, and many more, round out a jam-packed weekend of racing.<\/p>\n
