Watkins Glen discovered the allure of motorsports in 1948 when the village hosted the nation\u2019s first SCCA road race. In 1956, the races were moved to Watkins Glen International, one of the first purpose-built, road racing circuits in America.  Over the years, it\u2019s been transformed into a sprawling, high-speed, 11-turn, 3.4-mile NASCAR road course with interesting corners, elevation changes and a long front straight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. Vintage Grand Prix is one of the largest events on the SVRA calendar. This special weekend brings together hundreds of vintage race cars of all ages, makes and models. The Featured Marque for 2022 is Mustang. A very special Bugatti Reunion and Race will add to the weekend spectacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual Grand Prix Festival, held on Friday in downtown Watkins Glen, commemorates the early sports car races that took place on a 6.6-mile course laid out on village streets. The high point of the Festival is the Grand Prix reenactment, with SVRA race cars driving the original Watkins Glen street course to the cheers of 20,000 enthusiastic spectators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Memorable track action and a unique downtown festival combine for a great weekend in the scenic Finger Lakes region of New York. It doesn\u2019t get any better!<\/p>\n\n\n
