Racing September at Virginia International Raceway for The Heacock Classic Gold Cup, has long been a favorite weekend on SVRA\u2019s calendar. It\u2019s a beautiful time of year, with crisp mornings, clear skies, and warm days. Lush grasses lines the stark black racing surface make most views of this track worthy of a postcard. VIR is basically a car country club. In its longest configuration, more than two dozen turns are spread out over four miles, including a tight right hander where an oak tree once stood.<\/p>\n

The Chevrolet Corvair is the featured marque this year. New this year is a Pro-Am race for legends of NASCAR. The \u201cAmerican Racing Legends Charity Pro-Am,\u201d builds on the successful momentum of the \u201cIndy Legends Charity Pro-Am\u201d. The event will benefit IGNITE \u2013 the Autism Society of North Carolina. The Trans Am Series, IGT and Mazda Miata Heritage Cup share this race weekend.<\/p>\n
